Steam Game Crash Issues

I am having a major problem with Team Fort 2 after about 30 to 60 sec. of in game time my entire computer crashes and reboots. Has any on had a uissue like this?

You gotta love steam. I have never had or heard of that problem. I will try to do some research and help you come up with a solution. What are your pc specs? confused

I was checkin around on other support forums and came up with this:

Hoping this will clear up similar people's machine issues

Problem I had
Audio stutter loop made my pc crash within 4 seconds of entering the level, I could get past the movie and door selection screen but crashing was nigh on instant in the level.

Fix for my machine
Lowering hardware sound acceleration (windows XP > control panel > sound > playback device propeties > lower by one notch). Removes crash, tiny bit of stuttering but nothing I can't play with. Did not change any other settings, I am playing in DX9 with extended shader models + all high @ 1650x1050

you also need to have the latest directx 9 get it here:

One last thing is to make sure all of your video drivers are up to date. go to your video card manufacturers website and download the latest set of drivers. you should always keep them up to date. in our links section we have a couple of manufacturers listed.

thought i had the latest video drivers but on further review i did not.
i installed the latest ATI drivers and the game runs great, thx for the tips
